The only way to find out EVERYTHING going into Nudge 4 is in this email
Also TWIP does music now? Who do they think they are? US???
Sup Goofenbachers,
You know this already but guess what? Those t-shirts are out. If ya ordered one already, it’s in the mail. If not, WHY NOT? They look great, they feel great, and they’re guaranteed to make you GC at least once a weekend or your money back (not).
For real though, this is a good one. YES, the next shirt will be black again, OK? But if you ever needed an excuse to upgrade your tie-dye skillz, this is the one to do it with. Hell, post ‘em and we’ll give you designer props. We only have about 50 left, so as Zach Meny would scream into the abyss “BUY! BUY! BUY!”
Everything Going into Issue 4 as of Today
This week I’m calling an audible. We were supposed to have Joe’s finale to the Python Anghelo story, but I’m not doing that for two reasons.
I’m still editing it. Yes, as amazing as it sounds, we DO actually do some editing here. Mostly it’s just me adding spelling errors and typos to make these goofs sound dumber, but we do edit.
I’m so frickin’ gassed on issue 4, maaaaaan. We’ll leave a couple surprises, but I wanted to share what we’re working on now so you can become fully pumped. This will be the BIGGEST issue of Nudge by far (right now, my page count puts it at 70+, but I’m not sure it wouldn’t be bigger)
The Feature: 24 Hour Pinball People by Chris Ward
Chris Ward is an incredible writer and pinball player who lives in the St. Louis area. He’s written for some incredible pubs, so I guess he decided to slum it with us. Last year, he participated in a 24 hour pinball tournament (not the Sanctum) and kept a running diary of how he did. How DID he do and why is this fish smoking a doob? Welp, for that you’ll have to buy issue 4 (or just sit quietly on your hands and wait if you have a subscription.)
The Rise and Fall of Sunshine Laundromat by Gina Collecchia
Yes, everyone’s fave nudge writer is back with a great tale of triumph and tragedy. Sunshine Laundromat was a magical place that eventually housed an entire pinball subculture within the confines of NYC — but what happened during the pandemic would change them forever. Also new Gina pics! MY FAVE!
3 Days at Riot Fest: Logan X OFFWORLD By Dave Zuchora
Dave Zuchora runs the absolutely incredible Offworld Arcade. He wrote a lil’ thing about this for us that you can find online, but we’re about to blow it out and do it right in Issue 4. Huge pics, animatronic cover bands, drinking, and yes, pinball. You’re gonna frickin’ love it.
Strumpy Split Flip: A Guide to Everyone’s Favorite New Zealand Pinball Drinking Game By Sam Stonnell
Sam Stonnell came to our attention by drawing an absolutely DOPE Foo Fighters Pinball comic. Then we learned she was from New Zealand. Turns out besides cranking out LOTR movies and talking all funny, they also play a good amount of pinball. So what is Strumpy Split Flip? Well, basically take Edward 40 Hands, and add split flip to it is the short version. The long version you’ll have to wait for — and trust us, it’s worth it. Sam mixes film photography and digital illustration in some absolutely amazing ways.
How I found myself at Expo 2023 by Doc
Pictured: Dwight Sullivan scaring the kids
Yup, I’m writing again. Big Deal. Big Whoop. I had a helluva time at Expo 2023, which in hindsight was insane because I was in the throws of having my blood sugar at like 400+. So wild. This one is a bit of a pre-cap, with some of the dope stuff happening at Expo 40 next year. and YES we do update you on the debauchery that is Pinball Olympics.
Plus tons of other stuff
Ask Iggy, Pinball Music Reviews, a captain’s auctions story for the ages, and fun stuff from our boi Rick Brewster. Plus illustrations by some of your favorites, including T Petch, Mark Lone, and Sam Stonnell. Oh, and BMOEN HIMSELF may actually contribute something. It’s gonna be PACKED. PACKED I SAY.
Don’t listen to that, listen to this.
We saw in the latest TWIP that they’re dipping their toes into music recs. That’s cool and all, but hey — ask anyone: We have the best music taste around. This week, we thought we’d feature the band Land of Talk. Not only are they the first band to ever make a Nudge playlist, our designer Bmoen used to drum with them! They’re also the best pinball soundtrack ever. Fast, smooth, glossy — this whole album feels like how Star Trek plays. This song in particular has been stuck in my head all week, but to be honest almost every track is a banger — so go listen. Or listen to TWIP’s stuff, that’s fine too.
Next week?
Let’s be real: it’ll be the Python thing. Thanks Joe!

It’s ok I exited the “my taste in music is cool” era somewhere in the 2010s. “Losing my edge” has never hit harder 😂
